Ok, if 2D is working properly then that makes me think a bit more that
this is a compiz or unity bug.  Here are the compiz/unity packages you
upgraded:

I'll go ahead and re-file this bug to compiz.  I would recommend you
downgrade each of the above packages to the prior version in order to
determine more certainly that the compiz upgrades caused the regression.
