unity will run 'fine', the main issue is that on the 1st login after upgrading the unity plugin is disabled
If you go into ccsm you can enable it, probably need to unset all the plugins and then re-enable as needed.

After that though, at least here, the close, min, max buttons are on the
right side and  do nothing -
