Some more information on this issue.  Scale plugin does display previews
for minimized windows that were previously not maximized.  In other
words, if I have a non-maximized window, then I minimize it, then I
invoke scale (Super+W) I will see the preview for that window correctly.
On the other hand, I have a maximized window that then is minimized, I
won't see contents of this window on the preview rendered after invoking
scale (content is blank).  Hope this helps figure out what is wrong.
