Hmm, perhaps the problem I reproduced was not this bug. Everyone else
seems to say it takes hours or days. But I was able to get some
degradation using the nvidia-driver in under a minute (!). When the
proposed fix is available for testing we will of course know for certain
if it's a different issue.
