Luke, the issue with gradual degradation over time is bug 888039 and/or
bug 770160.

For the record, no fix has been put forward for this bug yet. Those who
have reported improvements I think are either a lucky minority, or were
mostly suffering from bug 861061 (which could severely affect CPU with
some gfx drivers).
