Using the "alt" key for the HUD also breaks things like alt+tab in a
VirtualBox VM:

Reproduce by: 
* Create a VM with a guest that uses the alt+tab to switch windows (e.g. Windows, Ubuntu etc.)
* Boot it
* Launch two programs
* Try and alt tab between

What happens:
Seemingly randomly, the HUD appears and takes focus away from the VM.

My issue is not with the HUD existing, my issue is with the fact I can't
remove the "Alt" key to show it without affecting alt+tab.
