Today when I started my machine, instead of just staring at my desktop
wallpaper and nothing else, I could see my desktop icons, received the
keyring authentication prompt, followed by an error message that the
task panel was not active, and my launcher would not work. Progress.  I
can still however boot into recovery mode to access 2D
