Unfortunately this is also a stacking problem. On random occasions
(usually when switching desktops) my Desktop window comes to the top of
the stack and gets stuck there (bug 1041047). When I stop to look at
what happened, the desktop has gone to the bottom of the stack where it
belongs. But by then it's too late and the unredirected desktop is stuck
on top.
