for me, I get this everytime when I'm logged in with Gnome (new), but
not when using Gnome Classic.  haven't tried in Unity or others.

12.04, 64bit, most recent updates (yesterday), Kernel Linux 3.2.0-30-generic
Intel® Xeon(R) CPU W3505 @ 2.53GHz × 2 
Quadro NVS 295 (GPU 0), Driver "nvidia"
