[Bug 1078799] Re: Compiz started suddently consume CPU. 70% with i7 processor

Thanks. That's excellent. Now it's clear the problem is Unity redrawing
constantly.

While we are working to make Unity redraws more efficient, that's
probably not the main issue here. The main issue is more about what
might be causing Unity to redraw constantly.

Likely candidates you should check:
  * Panel blur: If it's enabled, disable it. Or at least make sure nothing is redrawing behind it all the time.
  * Indicators: What (non-standard?) indicators do you have? (dpkg -l | grep indicator). They could be forcing frequent redraws which are too expensive with Unity right now.
  * Launcher icons: Do you just have a very large number of them?

Also re: multiple monitors: Yes this is still a major performance
problem for Unity. Sorry.

** Package changed: compiz (Ubuntu) => unity (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New
