You do not need to register the desktop file anywhere, its mere presence
in the ~/.config/autostart directory will cause it to be parsed and the
command executed at login.

You might need to install dconf-tools package to get the 'dconf'
command, I cannot remember if it's installed by default in Ubuntu or
not.
