Message #56840
[Bug 1704683] [NEW] video corruption 17.04 i915 driver
Public bug reported:
When I start emacs (GUI) randomly the emacs window is animated with 60HZ snow, speckles, and lines, including where the title bar should be.
If I interact with the window, by moving it or clicking in it, video returns to normal, and works
perfectly from then on. Also, when resizing a gnome-terminal, the window gets filled with snow and flashing lines off and on as the resizing is happening. When I stop resizing, video looks perfect.
100% repeatable. Both of these issues are highly dynamic, a screen shot won't show it. I could make a short
.mp4 video, if that would help.
Occurs on both systems I have installed onto.
System 1: 17.04 ASUS H87M-E motherboard, 8GB ram, Samsung 120GB SSD.
I tried 16.04 and had the same corruption.
System 2: 17.04 ASUS B150M-C motherboard, 8GB ram, Samsung 250GB SSD.
Seems somewhat similar to other bugs reported for nvidia and nouveau
drivers, but I am using i915.
** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
