The bug is still there 
Ubuntu 18.10 

Specific scenarios in firefox

1) open duckduckgo search page, start typing and switch layout - focus loss
2) register  wonderlist account, create task, add a note to it, start typing and switch layout - focus lost and textbox collapses.
