Just discovered by chance that a related field is editable

as the documentation 
http://doc.openerp.com/v6.0/developer/2_5_Objects_Fields_Methods/field_type.html?highlight=related%20fields
does not say anything

about ~50% of the related fields have readonly true

I just want to ask if this is a wanted feature or something which has to be checked
