I have checked this issue at my ends but I did not face any problem like 
yours.I have checked with trunk as well as stable so would you please 
provide more information regarding this issue.

  Import translation overwrite is not working

  Openerp server (trunk)

  When i try to import a new customized translation - nothing is
  imported.
