The error you are getting now seems to indicate that you configured your
account in OpenERP to use SSL yet the mailserver you entered did not
seem to know SSL ?

This is a configuration issue not really a technical problem as far as I
can tell.

On the subject of the master vs dev, I think you shouuld uninstall yes
and install the dev version.
