I have created a cuneiform FreeBSD port, it  runs  pretty well so far. 
It uses (optionally)  ImageMagick, and is based on 0.3.1 cuneiform-linux 
+ some patches from upstream repository.

Port is tested on FreeBSD RELENG-7 and RELENG-6, i386 and amd64 
architectures.

To install it just update your ports tree and run 'cd 
/usr/ports/graphic/cuneiform && make install clean'
