Cuneiform Linux 0.5 is released
Hi all
After a bit of a hiatus, I have finally released a new version of
Cuneiform. The main highlights are support for hOCR output and a new
experimental port to Windows using MinGW(*). Cuneiform Linux thus
works on all three major platforms (and some minor ones) with both 32
and 64 bit processors.
Combining Cuneiform's hOCR output with a post processor such as this
one http://www.exactcode.de/site/open_source/exactimage/hocr2pdf/
allows you to convert your images to properly laid out, fully text
searchable PDF files using only free software.
Download the source here: https://launchpad.net/cuneiform-linux
Thanks to all the people who sent in bug reports and patches.
(*) If you want to try it, note that you have to make the CF_DATADIR
environment variable point to the data file subdir of your source
tree. Otherwise it just errors out. And note that there is no GUI, you
have to use the command line. This is why it is called "experimental".
