Title:
Right speaker still not working only left it is not a harware problem

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Problem:

I am experiencing an audio imbalance in Ubuntu MATE (versions 22.04 and 24.04), where the right audio channel is not functioning. This issue persists across system upgrades.
The problem is evident in system sound tests through system configuration with the option "check speakers" it was initially detected by video playback (e.g., YouTube), indicating a software-related issue rather than a hardware malfunction.
After some troubleshooting, the sound problem worsened, and both channels stopped working, requiring a system restart to return to the original state.
  Troubleshooting Steps Attempted (and Results):

  PulseAudio and WirePlumber Restart:
Commands used: systemctl --user restart pulseaudio.service and systemctl --user restart wireplumber.service.
Result: Initially, restarting pulseaudio caused YouTube videos to stop loading, and after a system restart, the problem persisted. Restarting wireplumber had no effect. After subsequent restarts of pulseaudio the sound problem worsened, and both channels stopped working.

  PulseAudio Configuration Reset:
  Command used: rm -r ~/.config/pulse.
Result: No change in the audio imbalance. Also, attempted deleting the wireplumber config folder.
  ALSA Configuration Check (alsamixer):
  Tool used: alsamixer.
Result: ALSA configuration (PCM and Front channels) appeared to be balanced (100<>100), indicating the issue is likely above the ALSA layer.

  PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol):
  Tool used: pavucontrol.
Result: pavucontrol did not offer a balance adjustment option, and the problem persisted.
  General System Checks:

  Checked system sound settings.
Result: The right channel remained silent.
  Driver Checks:
Drivers are assumed to be up to date, as the system is recently updated.
  Attempted command:
  pulseaudio -k && sudo alsa force-reload
Result: pulseaudio -k returned an error stating that the process did not exist.

  Checking browser configuration:
This was not performed, due to the problem happening on the system sound test it was considered unnecesary.

  Key Observations:

The problem is consistent across system upgrades, suggesting a potential bug or compatibility issue.
ALSA configuration being correct points to PulseAudio or WirePlumber as the likely source of the problem.
The worsening of the problem after PulseAudio restarts indicates instability or a deeper issue.
Other users have reported similar problems. You can find a recent one (four months ago) in ask-ubuntu describing exactly this same problem with ubuntu 24.04. I am using ubuntu mate 24.04, but that seems to make no difference. The problem is the same. Here is the link in case it is of any use:
