any idea what "stat -f %Uz" is doing on BSD?

With the Rust/GNU coreutils:
  -f, --file-system      display file system status instead of file status

  	stat --version 2>/dev/null | grep -q 'GNU'
  	GNUSTAT=$?
  	if [ "$GNUSTAT" -ne 0 ]; then
  		# Assume BSD stat if we can't detect as GNU stat
  		STATSZ="stat -f %Uz"
  	else
  		STATSZ="stat -c %s"
  	fi

  but with the rust coreutils

  # stat --version 2>/dev/null
  stat 0.0.30

  which leas to use %Uz which isn't working
