stridder -- the HWE kernel in 24.04 is at 6.11 now, and will roll to
6.14 kernel this summer (at the next "dot" release of 24.04), rolling
again post 25.10 release to 6.XX, and finally to post 26.04

Are there any specific kernel related commits needed in the HWE
kernel(s) we should include?

The challenges with filesystem tools and kernels is capability matching.
for btrfs-progs, they follow the upstream Linux kernel releases. On one
hand, Ubuntu follows an LTS idea, which is to say "updates to programs
should be made with targeted bug and security fixes." We do have release
exceptions, and because of the matrix of support in filesystems and
kernels, it makes sense to me to move btrfs-progs (and possibly other
filesystem tools) with the kernel.

What that means in the short term is TBD. Changing to a rolling release
with the HWE kernel will be a new stream that we need to figure out. It
means moving ahead of Debian on a regular cadence (as they move with the
matching Debian kernels, which change during unstable phases and do not
match Ubuntu releases).

tl;dr I am interested in getting an "HWE" stream of filesystem tools
rolling, but it's not insignificant effort and may be a bit out. In the
meantime, we'll have to figure out specific targeted fixes.

  Lots of bugs were fixed since then. 
  As of Jun 2025 current release is 6.15.

  btrfs-progs is the MOST IMPORTANT package after the kernel b/c its the
  one that deals with all the data.

  There was NOT a single update of btrfs-progs in Ubuntu 24.04 (at least
  since the official release).

  Please update btrfs-progs in Ubuntu 24.04.
