Re: [Bug 2116798] Re: Internal Microphone detected but no audio on HP Omen 16 (Realtek ALC245)

I believe that’s right. I’ve also tried switching between Pulse and
PipeWire audio. In the current state after removing the flags, the built in
speakers do not work. The microphone is detected but doesn’t register any
input. Strangely, the output speaker indicator bar in Sound Settings page
does register input, as if it was a microphone.

Title:
Internal Microphone detected but no audio on HP Omen 16 (Realtek
  ALC245)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
[Partially troubleshooted and wrote this bug description with Gemini]:
Distribution & Version: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Kernel Version: 6.8.0-60-generic (also tested on 6.8.0-59-generic)
  Computer: HP OMEN Laptop 16-b0xxx
  Audio Codec: Realtek ALC245

On Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS, the internal microphone is detected but fails
to capture any audio. The speakers work correctly only after forcing
the legacy snd-hda-intel driver. The microphone hardware is confirmed
to be working under a Windows 11 dual boot.

A momentary signal (a small blip on the input meter) is registered
from the internal microphone only during the split-second that
headphones are plugged into the 3.5mm jack. The default Sound Open
Firmware driver fails to initialize the codec, producing ASoC: error
at snd_soc_dai_startup on Digital Codec DAI: -22 errors in dmesg.
Audio only works after forcing the legacy snd-hda-intel driver.

Forced the legacy snd-hda-intel driver by setting options snd-intel-
dspcfg dsp_driver=1. This was necessary to get speaker output.

Tested numerous snd-hda-intel model options, including auto, hp-omen,
laptop-amic, and alc269-hp, with no success.

Used hdajackretask to manually remap several pins (including 0x12,
0x19) to "Internal Mic." While this makes the device appear correctly
in the UI, no audio is captured.

Verified in alsamixer that all "Capture" and "Mic Boost" levels are
  turned up and unmuted.

Verified system and application privacy settings to ensure the microphone is not blocked.
