[Bug 2091302] Re: "Missing Decoder meta/x-gst-fourcc-mebx" message when trying to play some videos

 

This isn't an Ubuntu bug, but I'll continue to track the upstream ticket
here since it does have a negative affect on UX.

Applications using legacy playbin elements will require workarounds
until upstream provides guidance on proper handling. This behavior isn't
observed in applications using playbin3, as metadata tags are handled
within playbin3 itself.

I've updated the upstream ticket to request further recommendations on
how to avoid this in legacy applications.

Bug description:
  When trying to play some videos using Totem, the "Missing Decoder
  meta/x-gst-fourcc-mebx" message appears. However, the videos start
  playing fine after clicking the "Search in Software" button.
