[Bug 2120238] Re: (24.04) OpenGL no longer works on Arrandale.

I switched the comptuer to another hard drive, and updated mesa on that
one. This way, I'll be able to switch between mesa versions. Here's what
happens with mesa 25.07:

Title:
(24.04) OpenGL no longer works on Arrandale.

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
First off, I've kind of given up on trying to figure out how to use
apport on my own. If anyone can give me a "for dummies" example of how
to use it, that would be nice.

Anyway, I'm running Linux Mint 22.1, which we all know is basically
Ubuntu 24.04. Ubuntu 24.04 shipped a new version of mesa,
25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.1, which completely broke OpenGL, causing every
program I've got to fall back on software rendering. Reverting back to
24.0.5-1ubuntu1 fixed the problem. I have apt-marked these packages as
  "hold" for now.

My computer is an old laptop with Intel graphics. I'm assuming the
graphics are part of the CPU, which is identified as the following:
  Intel(R) Core(R) i5 CPU m 520 @ 2.4Ghz. I've seen it referred to as an
  Arrandale CPU.

With mesa 24.0.5, OpenGL functionality is provided by the crocus
driver. However, even though crocus seems to ship with mesa 25.0.7, my
computer refuses to use it for some reason.

Also, since my hardware is old, I've tried to install as many packages
with "amber" in their name as possible, but that didn't help. Maybe I
just don't know which packages to install?

PS: This is the same hardware I reported in bug #2073648. I'll re-upload a file from there, which has the output of lshw. The only real difference is that I'm now running kernel 6.14.0-27-generic, rather than 6.8.0-x-generic.
