[Bug 2121583] Re: KDE / Plasma keeps changing speaker source
I have now had an opportunity to try on the stock Ubuntu desktop and
exactly the same is happening there. It also does it at work with
different monitors and cables. The displays themselves do not flicker.
None of the laptop sockets show any signs of physical damage.
I attempted to install Teams, company mandate, using Crossover's WINE.
It promptly removed almost all the DEs (and failed to install Teams!)
and a lot of libraries, including most of the sound libraries. It took
me a while to recover the system, but reinstalling everything to do with
Plasma and the default Ubuntu desktops has made no difference.

Title:
KDE / Plasma keeps changing speaker source
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
There are two audio output sources on my laptop, one is the internal
speakers and the second is via the DisplayPort. At random intervals
during the day KDE / Plasma will start switching rapidly between the
two, it was particularly apparent today and went on for some minutes.
Both sets of speakers seem to test ok, audio out of all 4 speakers.
When viewed in the Audio section of System Settings the two audio
outputs can be seen rapidly flicking between the two.
As always, happy to collect any more information
