It's such an interesting bug, it's a twilight zone, the final stages of
shutdown. Really hard to understand or log.
I can't reproduce on all systems. Like, it never happens in my VMs
(virt-manager, 24.04 guest and host).
Where is the decision made to render in bold font? Is there any
configuration anywhere?

  Plymouth's hidden console contains squares instead of bold text on
  live session shutdown.

  You can see it by pressing Escape instead of Enter.

  It seems somewhat related to the fix for bug 1942987, which only
  preloads non-bold text for the live session shutdown splash.
