[Bug 2125220] Re: Mesa 25.0.7+ not compatible with Intel G31 express video

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, per your report, it seems as though you are not
actually running Ubuntu but a derivative distribution. Derivatives are
not official flavours and may have additional repositories that provide
packages that conflict with our official packages, so we cannot provide
support or debug when things go wrong in these distributions.

Official flavours of Ubuntu are listed here:
https://ubuntu.com/desktop/flavours

Please seek support and bug reporting solutions from your distribution.
Thank you!

However, if you can reproduce this issue from an Ubuntu installation or
install media, please do let us know.

Title:
Mesa 25.0.7+ not compatible with Intel G31 express video

Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Using Linux mint 22.2 (based on 24.04), with mesa 25.0.7, results in a
login loop with default Xorg rendering. Wayland appears to work. This
  previously worked with mesa 24.x.

Updating to both 25.1.9 and 25.2.3 did not resolve the issue, rather
than a login loop, it resulted in a black screen that needed the
  process to be killed.

This system was using the 'intel' driver. Upon removing it as another
bug (#2120238) suggested, the system defaulted to 'modesetting' and
all graphics functionality failed to work, wayland and the login
  screen included.
