Title:
  gdm on 32 bit does not start login panel

Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gdm

  We are having issues with gdm on Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit.  We are not
  experiencing this on 64 bit systems.

  The problem is that gdm is not responding to XDMCP requests and is not
  producing a login panel on the started X server.  We have manually
  started the X server using the -query 127.0.0.1 option and it does not
  produce a login screen with gdm.  We have tried this same option using
  xdm and it does product a login panel.

  We have noticed that gdm is not sending a WILLING response to the
  XDMCP query.

  We have done research, and found there are patches available (in gdm
  3.20.5) that have addressed issues with XDMCP.  We are unable to test
  these changes since there are no packages available for this version
  of gdm on 10.04 (currently 3.20.0 or 3.20.2.is.3.20.0 update).

  We are working on a multiseat solution, and this problem does not
  occur on the onboard station (only on the alternate stations that our
  software provides which are trying to use XDMCP to provide a login
  panel).

  Note: This bug report was not sent from a machine that is having this
  problem, so any information sent by the bug report tool will be
  incorrect.  The problem systems are base 10.04 with our software
  installed.
