Title:
Totem plays videos jittery and without sound

Status in “gstreamer0.10” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Using Ubuntu 10.10, upgraded from 10.04

  Using Totem 2.32.0-0ubuntu1

When playing videos in Totem, the video should be smooth and play with
  sound.

Instead, the video sometimes plays without sound and moves slowly for
about 2 seconds, then plays quickly for another two seconds. Finally
the video stops playing and presents the error "Connection
  terminated."

This problem cannot always be reproduced, but does occur with a
variety of different video files and formats.

The problem only occurs in Totem and does not occur in VLC.

When playing a video file from the terminal using totem --debug, I get
  this output:

  totem --debug S07E01.m4v
(totem:10440): Totem-DEBUG: Received SaveYourself(SmSaveLocal, !Shutdown, SmInteractStyleNone, !Fast) in state idle
  (totem:10440): Totem-DEBUG: Setting initial properties

(totem:10440): Totem-DEBUG: Received SaveComplete message in state save-yourself-done
  (totem:10440): Totem-DEBUG: totem_playlist_add_one_mrl (): S07E01.m4v (null) (null)
