I've KDE installed, maybe logging into KDE and then using Unity again
caused the problem?

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

  To fix this problem I have to quit empathy and run "killall telepathy-
  butterly" and then starting empathy again. Happens about once a week.
  This has been ongoing since Lucid.
