Re: [Bug 635366] Re: Screen brightness unstable on Asus1005P

Hi - Sorry.

I got a virus in the Asus 1005 and had to clean the hard drive to remove
it successfully.

So far, The wife's got me painting outside whilst the weather is good so I haven't had the spare time to re-load Ubuntu into that computer.
When I get the software back in again, I can follow these links and try to make the system work properly.

Many thanks for your help so far.
Sorry to be a nuisance.

Best regards

Chris Whitehead.

Title:
  Screen brightness unstable on Asus1005P

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Hi - I run Ubuntu 9.1 on a Asus 901 without any problems whatsoever.
  Everything works well.

I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a Asus 1005P in duel boot
with Windows 7 Starter Ed. After some minor issue with the WiFi -
which I was very impressed with the help received - could I trouble
you guys for a little more assistance please.

The screen brightness is unstable. Using the Fn+F5/F6 keys opens the
brightness slider but this jumps from 'dim' to 'off' to 'bright' to
dim to bright to off to dim etc.

When the screen dims due to the 'automatic dim if not used for a short
period' setting, the screen goes off completely when the mouse is
nudged - but this should bring the screen back on.

Is there a fix for this problem?

  Thanks

  Chris
