  I was working on the Internet, and when I finished, the folders and
  files from my desktop directory were not on the screen.  So, having
  had this before, I logged off and logged back on.  The wall paper was
  displayed, but neither the desktop content nor the panels appeared.  A
  reboot was required to restore normality.
