[Bug 833379] Re: Backlight jumping between full and normal

Got 80meg of updates today but no change of this problem.

But a new hint, do we have a problem with existing user configs?

When login with an old 11.04 user the bug occurs.

When login with a new plain user the laptop is backlighting and dimming
right.

When login'd with the new user and theirafter with the old user the
problem is away till reboot.

Title:
Backlight jumping between full and normal

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Oneiric alpha on thinkpad x41
Since todays updates the backlight drives me crazy. It jumps while simply using the computer to full power in battery mode. The thinkpad buttons only move the thinkpad osd slider, but the backlight stays full power. If the pointer is moved or a key pressed, the backlight jumps back to normal and switchable state.
I did not found an option in the new gnome power manager to handle the brightness. Seems that the machine idle turns the backlight on full power, need sunglasses now.
