[Bug 835435] Re: gdmsetup should allow to change the image background
The only way I found on a Ubuntu wiki is :
1. install the capplets-data package
2. execute the below command :
sudo ln -s /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/
3. logout
4. replace the background image of the gdm greeter by a background
colour
5. login again
6. execute the below command :
unlink /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop
7. remove the capplets-data package and all its dependencies

Title:
gdmsetup should allow to change the image background
Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I want to use Xubuntu 11.04 on a lightweight laptop. On this host I
need a very long battery lifetime as well as the shortest startup
duration.
Therefore I would like to disable the image background of gdm.
Why is there no option into the gdmsetup tool for disabling or
changing the image background of the gdm greeter ?
