Re: [Bug 830706] Re: Nautilus crashes in trash bin when selecting files

Okay,

I'm more than willing to help out where I can.

I did submit everything that the bug uploader requested. If you think
the nautilus crashing brings up the crash dialog, it doesn't. It just
silently crashes. I can try to run it in a terminal, but that still
won't generate a crash report being generated.

I'll look at the instructions again when I can, but not sure how much more I can add.

Subject: [Bug 830706] Re: Nautilus crashes in trash bin when selecting files

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Title:
Nautilus crashes in trash bin when selecting files

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Any ways, so I want to know how to post a bug report about Nautilus
2.32.2.1 in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal / Studio)

It's a reproducible bug, assuming you have enough things in your trash
bin to make it think about it. So, if I have something in my trash bin
and you go to clear the trash bin, and before it has deleted
everything or calculated, if you try to select all (control A),
Nautilus will totally crash, not clearing the trash bin.

If someone will explain how to submit this to the proper people, I will gladly do so.

HERE is the other requested information:

  $ lsb_release -rd

  Description: Ubuntu 11.04

  Release: 11.04

  $ apt-cache policy nautilus

  nautilus:

    Installed: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13

    Candidate: 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13

    Version table:

   *** 1:2.32.2.1-0ubuntu13 0

          500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64
  Packages

          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What I expected to happen? There were a lot of files in the trash bin and it was calculating before either requesting verification to delete or before deleting said files. I was expecting to be able to check the size of all the files by selecting all.

What happened instead? Nautilus did not select all files, did not
delete files, and instead crashed completely, generating no crash log
  or error message.
