  Format profile active but not choosable in drop down list

Status in “gnome-media” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-media

  When choosing 'preferences' trying to select MP3 as the output format
  it is not present in the list. When hitting 'edit profiles' it is
  present and marked 'active'. What can be done to be able to select it?

  UBUNTU 8.04, 2.6.24-22-generic, gnome 2.22.3     I also installed Lame
  (that I missed), but mp3 fromat still doesn't appear in the drop down
  list.
