Title:
fade when logging out doesn't work properly with metacity compositor

Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: metacity

When logging out, the screen begin to fade to black, if you click on
the cancel button on the logout dialog before the fade is complete the
  screen stay black.

Not sure the problem comes from metacity (maybe gnome-session?) but it
  doesn't happen with compiz.

  metacity (1:2.21.5-0ubuntu1) with compositor enabled
  gnome-session (2.20.2-1ubuntu2)
