Title:
network-admin doesn't perform hostname data validation

Status in “gnome-system-tools” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

I was helping a beginner with his Feisty system. I kept getting a
temporary file creation error from gpg regarding some bizarre URL when
I tried to add a repo using apt-key. It took a while before I noticed
the rather obvious problem - his hostname was a URL and gpg uses the
hostname in the file name. I suspect he misunderstood the purpose of
the hostname box in network-admin and entered the URL to his ISP.
Apparently the app doesn't check an entered hostname for blatantly
  invalid names like "http://hostname.com";.
