Title:
Sound artifacts when moving bal/fad/sub sliders to extremes
Status in “gnome-media” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-media
I had to manually specify my sound card as being '5.1 analogue
surround + analogue stereo input' under the hardware tab.
then switching to the 'output' tab and sliding any of the Balance,
Fade or Subwoofer sliders right the way to the far left or far right
causes unusual artefacts in the sound. sounds almost like horrendous
mp3 compression.
Recreate by:
1) play some music in rhythmbox / youtube / spotify / anything
2) open sound preferences
3) select hardware tab
4)click the relevant sound card
5) change the profile to 5.1 surround (if your card supports it)
6) click output tab
7) drag 'Fade' slider all the way to the 'Front' label, as far right as it goes
8) listen
