  gnome-appearance-properties changes screen resolutions

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  When launching gnome-appearance-properties on screen 0, the screen
  resolution changes from 2560x1600 to 1280x800, and requires using
  nvidia-settings to return it to 2560x1600.  When launching gnome-
  appearance-properties on screen 1, the resolutions on screen 0 and 1
  change and the system become unusable and must be restarted from a
  console.
