Title:
Monitor changes Disables Gnome Panel Updates

Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Another frustration. When using NVIDIA's applet to set up or take
down a second monitor, the GNOME panels stop updating. The time
doesn't change. The window list doesn't change across workspaces.
  etc.

If I use the Panel Properties and change the background of the panel,
  then it starts updating again.

Would be really nice to have this little glitch fixed.
