Title:
volume slide doesn't work as expected

Status in “gnome-media” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-media

I'm using USB speakers, so I had to disable the built-in speakers
according to the second note in this thread:

Initially I thought that didn't work, but then I played with the
volume control in gnome-volume-control. It seemed that when I moved
the slider about 2/3 over (there's a sticky gray bar) then I got
sound. Maybe this is by design, but I can't understand why.
