Title:
Disk sizing is incorrect
Status in “gnome-disk-utility” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility
I have a RAID 1 array consisting of two disks. Each of the disks is
reported as 400 GB (this is correct but with low precision). I have a
1 TB drive that is unused and recognized by the gnome-disk-utility.
Using the GUI, I tried to add the unpartitioned 1 TB drive to the RAID
array as a 'spare'. The GUI told me that it would create two
partitions - one 400GB in size to be added to the RAID array, and the
other 600GB that will be free. It performs the partitioning then,
when mdadm runs to add it as a spare, it reports that the size 400GB
is not large enough and fails. This is reported by the GUI. So I can
not add a spare using the GUI.
The two disks that are part of the functional array are unpartitioned
- that is I am using the whole disks.
