  3) What is expected to happen in LibreOffice Writer via the Terminal:

  cd ~/Desktop && wget
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/801035/+attachment/2179415/+files/example.odt
  && lowriter -nologo example.odt

  click File -> Save As -> Microsoft Word 2007 XML (docx) -> OK -> close
  then re-open the document and the highlighted words remain highlighted
  yellow.

  4) What happens instead is they are not.

  WORKAROUND: Convert the file to .docx via AbiWord, then open in
  LibreOffice Writer and the highlight remains:

  cd ~/Desktop && wget

  && abiword --to=docx --to-name=example.docx example.odt && lowriter
