[Bug 733862] Re: Gadu Gadu situation
Since I reported the bug I switched to Debian + KDE. Still, the one
problem of contacts disintegration is a killer bug. The new Linux user
won't care why does it happen or how to fix. He will just return to
Windows. Even no support for GG in telepathy-haze would be better than
the current implementation. Yet it is so easy to fix, it makes me
wonder, why there is half-year delay for the first response to appear.
If it doesn't work for 11.10, it can be made to work, right? I do not
know how the library works, but I think it is pretty easy for the
maintainer to fix. I would contact him, but I do not have the authority
here.

Title:
Gadu Gadu situation
Status in “telepathy-haze” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: telepathy-haze
I'll be honest with you. Current implementation of Gadu Gadu protocol
in telepathy-haze is worthless. Why don't you substitute it with
working solution? https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-
sunshine
This lack of working implementation of Gadu Gadu in default Ubuntu is
show stopper for people in Poland. How can I suggest the new OS for
them, when such fundamental thing - their favorite IM protocol - is
not working? Yea, I know it can transport messages, but without
contacts support it doesn't matter.
Just kick the GG out of telepathy-haze and pull telepathy-sunshine
into dependencies of empathy. I hope this can be done in Natty cycle.
Really, in Poland lack of proper GG support destroys value of Ubuntu
for new users. Just do it, and the situation will change greatly!
