The "system updater" tells me I am up to date.
LibreOffice tells me I have:

LibreOffice 3.3.3
OOO330m19 (Build:301)
tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2


And the problem still happens and is trivial to reproduce.

  the hyperlink looks the same in both files.

  4) What happens instead is the hyperlink in the rtf is duplicated and
  appears next to the original hyperlink.
