  gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in
  g_simple_async_result_complete()

Bug description:
  after upgrading to the latest (as of August 30, 2011) build of Ubuntu
  11.10 via the terminal, I restarted the machine.  upon logging  for
  the first time, this error appeared with a dialog asking me to submit
  an error report.  I literally did nothing except log in.
