Title:
Should use aptdaemon to install drivers

Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Use case:
Nicole is setting up her new netbook with Ubuntu 11.04. The first thing she does is go to the Software Centre to install Skype so she can talk to her boyfriend while she is away in Switzerland. While Skype is downloading, the "Use additional drivers" indicator appears and informs her that she needs to install drivers for the wireless card. When she presses "Activate" on the proprietary driver, she is informed "Couldn't get lock on /var/lib/dpkg/lock" and has to wait for Skype to finish installing before being able to connect to the wireless network.
