[Bug 840782] Re: FF update in natty destroyed custom .desktop file
Firstly, that's nothing to do with Firefox. And secondly, dpkg does this
for config files (files in /etc) already. It certainly shouldn't ever do
it to files outside of there, else we'd have no control over what we're
shipping, and people would end up with broken systems.
And desktop files aren't conffiles

Title:
FF update in natty destroyed custom .desktop file
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
I had made a custom unity quicklist for firefox by modifying
/usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop
The custom firefox.desktop file has been overwritten with the latest
update, which means I no longer have my custom firefox menu in unity
What I would like to see:
dpkg noticing that the firefox.desktop file is different from the one the developer specified, and ask the user if they want to keep their own version or install the new one. I have seen this behaviour for several packages, so it must be possible to do this.
