Title:
GDM fails to show desktop after login
Status in gdm package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Ubuntu 15.04 (vivid vervet)
GDM version 3.14.1
I clicked on my user name from the list, entered my password and then
pressed enter. The selected session was GNOME.
What was expected to happen: GDM would start the my personal GNOME
desktop.
What happened instead: GDM hid all widgets; only the mouse and the
grey sandy background were immediately visible. Upon pressing some
keystrokes like Enter and the menu key (next to the left arrow key), a
popup menu appeared with the options Copy, Paste and Show text and
Hide text alternatingly. The first two greyed out. Sometimes, by
clicking around, my user list item, as shown in gdm, was shown briefly
with reduced opacity.
